One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s

One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s was held on 21st August, 2018 at Conference Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The program was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The program is a part of Comprehensive eye care program of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, which is being supported by Mission for Vision, Mumbai based NGO.

The training program aims to train ASHA’s in identifying basic eye disease and create awareness among the society. After the training, the ASHA workers would do door to door household survey and identify the patients with visual impairment and blindness. The identified patients would be screened in the subsequent confirmatory screening camps by R.K. Mission eye Outreach team. Those needing medicines or glasses would be dispensed at community level and surgical cases will be transported to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and free surgery would be done.

25 ASHA’s from Doimukh area attended the training program.

Sri Amit Mandal, Manager – Program Impact, Mission for Vision stressed the importance of ASHA workers as they are the connecting link between the community and health care establishments. He praised the role of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital especially in uplifting the overall eye care scenario of the state.

Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary, RKMH also spoke on the occasion, he explain the importance of eye work in community.                

Dr. Lobsang Tsetim, Senior Ophthalmologist, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, was the Resource person for the training program. Dr. Lobsang Tsetim conducted the day-long training with interactive training sessions and slide presentations, covering topics such as “Anatomy of the eye, Common eye disorders, Eye safety for children etc”. He requested all the ASHA workers to work with full zeal and enthusiasm to make this program a success

The participants were awarded training certificates and Honorarium at the end of the program by Sri Amit Mandal.

Dr. Lobsang Tsetim, in conclusion gave vote of thanks.

Police Assistance booth at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Inaugurated by Shri Kumar Waii, Honourable Minister, Home, RWD, Labour & Emloyment (A.P.), in Presence of Shri S.B.K Singh, IPS, DGP (A.P.) On May 24, 2018.

Fruits distribution to the indoor patients of hospital done by Cheif Guest Shri Kumar Waii, Guest of Honour Shri S.B.K. Singh, Smti Taba Yall Nabam, Councillor, ward no. 5, Itanagar and Police officers.

More than 200 peoples treated, 8 Patients were transported to R.K. Mission Hospital for free Cataract Surgery. 32 tooth Extraction done and 32 Subsidy glasses distributed. Free Medicine distributed by RKMH.

Fire Relief Work

Distribution was done to 51 families. All the essential items were included. This relief was funded by the Headquater of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal. Distribution was done through Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar in Collaboration with Vivekananda Study Circle, Naharlagun.

Swami Sarvagananda ji Maharaj, head of Ramakrishna Mission, Lumdung, East Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh, Speaking on the occassion, told that this type of service is done with an attitude based on the noble tenet of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, "Service to Man is Service to God".
