The Investigative Wing has a state-of-the-art laboratory which offers major diagnostic facilities like Clinical Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Serology, Immunohematology and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC). The laboratory is equipped with fully automated machines, which provide reports quickly and reliably.

This wing also houses the Radiology Department which has a digital X-ray facility with a 500 mA X-ray unit and Orthopantomography (OPG) machine. Digital X-rays provide sharp and clear images to the patients, making accurate diagnosis of the disease easier.

Continuous Improvement in Diagnostic Techniques

Advanced facilities like Electrocardiography (ECG) and Echocardiography (ECHO) are available for the patients. Apart from this, facilities like diagnostic ultrasound, color doppler, video endoscopy and audiometry are also being provided.

Recently a new and state-of-the-art ultrasonography cum color doppler unit (Siemens ACUSON NX3) has been installed in the radiology section. This unit has been provided in collaboration with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which has brought more quality in the services of the department.

Features of Ophthalmology Department

The ophthalmology department of the Investigative Wing is full of state-of-the-art machines. Facilities like operative phacoemulsifier, Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer (Perimeter), A-scan and pachymeter, B-scan, non-contact and applanation tonometer, fundus fluorescein angiography, green laser, YAG laser and optical coherence tomography (OCT) are available here.

With the help of all these equipment, even the minutest problems of the patients’ eyes can be detected. The ophthalmology department constantly updates its equipment so that there is no shortage in treatment.

Services of the clinical wing

Under the investigative wing, various types of consultation services are being provided in the clinical wing. This includes general medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, gynecology and obstetrics, cardiology, chest diseases, psychiatry, dermatology, neurosurgery and physiotherapy.

Experienced doctors in every department give consultation according to the individual needs of the patients, which makes the treatment more effective and safe.

There are six modern dental surgery units working in the dental department, where experienced and expert dental surgeons are providing services. New techniques in the physiotherapy department

The physiotherapy department is fully equipped with modern equipment. Facilities like short wave diathermy, microwave diathermy, ultrasonic therapy unit, infrared unit, muscle stimulator, cervical traction and lumbar traction units, paraffin wax bath, electrical massager, interferential therapy unit (IFT), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS) and contrast bath are available here.

Recently a 29 program IFT machine and 1 MHz ultrasound unit have been added to this department, which is providing more effective treatment to the patients.

Organizing free eye camps

The Investigative Wing is also fulfilling its social responsibility very well. In the year 2019-20, a total of 18 free eye camps were organized, out of which six were organized in different parts of Delhi through mobile medical units.

In these camps, a total of 1852 persons were examined for their eyes and 331 patients underwent cataract surgery and were provided with intraocular lenses (IOL). Apart from this, 538 people were also given free spectacles. A total of Rs 14,39,918 was spent on this entire process, which restored vision to many needy people.
